Hosted by Jon Friedman, The Rejection Show celebrates Valentine’s Day with an evening of its best breakup, heartbreak and love related performances/stories from within the book and shows past, present and future–blending into an evening of love songs, live music, and a party. Twain in the Membrane: A Comedy Party

Celebrating the book release of “Mark Twain’s Autobiography 1910-2010″ by Michael Kupperman, Twain in the Membrane will feature a mixture of comedy, live cartoons and skits celebrating Mark Twain, his achievements, and his general Twaininess. Bring your Twain costume to win a free book or other prize! Also a frog-humping contest–prepare your hips!

A Screening of The Film Head

2012

Join us for a salute to Head, the trippiest psychedelic cult film of all-time. Written by Jack Nicholson and starring the Monkees, with guest appearances by everyone from Frank Zappa to Annette Funicello, this brazen and bizarre 1960s musical comedy must be seen to be believed. The evening will feature a screening of the 86-minute film in high-definition sound and picture, followed by a panel moderated by Kurt Loder (“The Good, the Bad and the Godawful”) and featuring Monkees historian Eric Lefcowitz (author of “Monkee Business: The Revolutionary Made-For-TV Band”), podcast host Julie Klausner (“How Was Your Week”), author and music journalist Rob Sheffield (Rolling Stone), and other special guests. The ultimate tribute to a cinematic milestone, “Night of the Living Head” is the acid flashback you’ve been waiting for.

Kupperman, whose work has appeared in The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Adult Swim, and Comedy Central’s TV Funhouse, and WarRock, who recently showcased at SXSW and has gained widespread Internet acclaim for his brand of pop-cultural indie hip hop, present a night of comedy, comics, and music. Karaoke and comedy collide at THE JUKEBOX, a monthly performance series uniting comedians, writers, storytellers and actors around a shared fondness for karaoke. Everyone on the line-up performs something inspired by a song — be it stand-up, a story, or a written piece — then sings that song karaoke. Performers choose their own songs based on the theme for that month’s show; each one is a type of playlist or mixtape, and the theme for this edition is “Home.” Hosted by Steve Heisler, Steve Jacobs and Margaret Lyons.
