Tig Notaro’s Bentzen Ball
The Bentzen Ball began in 2009 when comedian Tig Notaro teamed up with Brightest Young Things to create and curate a fun and exciting new way of highlighting comedians while at the same time developing an environment where every person felt taken care of and valued both onstage and off. In additional to presenting the best established and up-and-coming comedians, Bentzen Ball also aims to offer a platform to voices and non-profit partners who are making an important impact in the world around us. 2018′s festival focused on presenting all female/queer/non-binary headliners, which included a live episode of Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness entitled “How Allies Can Help Defend Trans Rights” with director of the National Center for Trans Equality Mara Keisling. Bentzen Ball was also proud to donate a portion of sales to Human Rights Watch, a nonprofit, nongovernmental human rights organization. This year, our non-profit partner will be World Central Kitchen, a non-governmental organization devoted to providing meals in the wake of natural disasters.
